The Ab wheel is one of my favorite pieces of home fitness equipment for many reasons. First, it is super inexpensive and the exercise is very challenging! Second, it simulates a couple of exercises done on the pilates reformer. In this quick video, I demonstrate 2 exercises on the reformer: Abs Kneeling Facing Forward and Long Stretch, and 1 exercise on the Ab Wheel. You will see how they are similar not only in technique, but in the muscle groups that they work.
Purpose and Muscular emphasis: Abdominals, shoulder stability, pelvic stability. latissimus dorsi, teres major, serratus anterior, pectoralis major, rotator cuff, glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps, triceps, anterior deltoid. (Just about everything!)
