Preparing for a Successful Week of Eating

Sharing more of my kitchen tips and tricks. I have mentioned before that I always cook my proteins in bulk. I wanted to show how that translates to an entire week of quick and easy healthy meals! 1 to 1 1/2 hours, ONCE a week spent on preparing food will save you HOURS every day. It is totally worth it! Think about when you are most tempted to eat junk... usually when you are super busy, really tired, or totally ravenous and want instant gratification. Am I right? If most of your food is already ready to go and you know it's only going to take 5-10 minutes to throw something tasty together, then you will be much more likely to choose a healthier meal. This is such an excellent habit to get into.

In this blog, I'm taking you through my shredded chicken preparation and sharing 4 different meals that can made with it throughout the week. Eating the same thing everyday can be boring and can sometimes veer us off track. As always, I'm using my food scale to proportion my food and logging my meals using the myfitnesspal app. Food logging is also an excellent habit to get into!

If you're saying to yourself.. she keeps mentioning the word "habit." That's because changing/adding good habits can lead you to a lifetime of success. It can give you that balanced lifestyle (and a great bod!) that I'm always talking about. My mother just discovered and introduced me to this excellent book that puts into words what I sometimes cannot regarding lifestyle changes. I've added the link at the bottom of the blog - I highly recommend!

Shredded Chicken Prep:

Ingredients:

3-4 lbs Raw Organic Chicken Breasts

Approximately 3 cups Organic Chicken Broth (can substitute water here): Enough to cover most of the chicken in your crockpot.

Directions:

Throw entirety of both ingredients into your crockpot. Cook on high for 4 hours, then cook on low for 3-4 hours. Using a tong, pull chicken out of liquids and place in glass or tupperware storage container. Chicken should be falling apart as you pull it out. Once in your container, use your tongues to shred the chicken. Let cool and then refrigerate. Keep remaining broth in separate container (refrigerate once cooled) to make soup during the week.
