Summer Smoothies

It's starting to warm up outside and I wanted to share my smoothie tricks with you! I have the "secret ingredient" to the coldest, thickest, most delicious smoothie in town and you'll never guess what it is!.....

ZUCCHINI! Yep.. Your favorite squash works magic not only in hot dishes, but also in cold. I love adding this to smoothies not just for added thickness, but also because it can double the size of your smoothie without doubling the calories.

Here are 2 of my favorite summer smoothie recipes. Of course, the best thing about smoothies is you can throw in whatever fruits and veggies you like, so feel free to mix it up!

**These recipes are perfect for smoothie bowls, too, because they're so thick and don't melt right away**

Summer Smoothies

Side note: You can prep and pre-package your frozen ingredients in ziploc bags to save time.

Fruit Smoothie

  • 1/2 frozen zucchini (cut raw zucchini into cubes before freezing)

  • 1/2 frozen banana (also cut into small chunks before freezing)

  • 1/2 cup mixed frozen berries

  • 1/2 cup or more of unsweetened almond milk (the more you add, the thinner the smoothie - so just keep that in mind)

  • 20-30 grams "neutral" flavored Protein Powder (vanilla, coconut, birthday cake, or banana are all good choices)

  • 1 packet stevia

Directions: Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until there are no chunks left. Serve immediately.

Macros (using 20 grams of protein powder. May vary depending on what powder you use.): 20g carbs, 0g fat, 18g protein
